You can make your own “jokes” about dieting here. Fatboy Slim is partnering with takeaway delivery service Deliveroo to offer fans the chance to have him play their house as the last night of his UK and Ireland tour.
Fatboy Slim (real name Norman Cook, keeping the gastronomical theme tight) has blocked out 7th March as the final night of his arena tour with “YOUR HOUSE?” sitting at the end of a tour run that includes the SSE Arena in London and the Motorpoint Arena in Nottingham.
The wonderfully titled Deliverave competition is offering the winner not just a gig in their home but also tickets to one of the main arena shows of their choice. There will also be a pair of tickets to any show given out to each of the 10 runners up.
All they have to do to enter is submit their name, address, email, mobile number and date of birth before midnight on 17th February. There are nice little flourishes in the promo video like an acid house smiley being the delivery tracking icon on the Deliveroo app which is also showing a map of Brighton, where Fatboy Slim lives.
His camper van is also emblazoned with rave insignias and converts into a DJ booth parked outside someone’s house while an actual Deliveroo cyclist makes a little cameo in the opening scene.
Things like Sofar Sounds and Balcony TV have been taking acts into fans’ homes for several years and big acts will often book in strategic underplay shows when launching an album as a sign they are “getting back to their roots”.
But actually having a genuine arena-level act show up and end their tour in a fan’s house is a delightful touch.
The mechanic is incredibly simple (apply online and there are links to stream his catalogue, buy tickets and pre-order his new best of album), but with a prize like this there really is – to extend the food motif – no need to over-egg the marketing pudding.
