BIG BEAT RECORDS

Overview

Big Beat Records is a dance-focused label within Warner Music Group and is putting out a new compilation called Big Beat Ignition: Space which comes with a fitting outer space theme.

The label is working with Landmrk on the campaign and it has powered many real world and virtual location-based initiatives in the past. “Anyone else down for a space rave right now?” it says on its dedicated website. “We’re dropping 10 intergalactic house and tech house records with some exclusive space content.” There is also a prompt to pre save the album ahead of its release on 3rd April.

It only works with mobile and requires users to have their device’s location settings switched on. They can stream tracks ahead of the album’s release, with a countdown bar on the homepage indicating when the next track will be available.

For each track they play, they will unlock a special mission badge (on Music Ally’s first attempt we got one with an alien in sports gear jogging around what is perhaps the rings of Saturn). It draws on data from NASA and the European Space Agency and filters it through Landmrk’s real-world location tools.

The customisation also includes the user’s precise location, the weather where they are, their distance from the International Space Station and even the distance they have travelled (via the movement of the Earth) in the time they have spent listening to the unlocked track.

It is an interesting twist on the location centric campaigns that Landmrk has powered in the past for acts like CNCO, Ariana Grande and Lauv, showing that ambitions here do not have to be weighed down by gravity on Earth
